Packaging

Our bars and soaps come packaged in small bags made with polylactic acid (PLA), which is created from the lactic acid (starch) in plants, and certified compostable.

PLA products biodegrade into water, carbon dioxide and organic materials, and so can be composted. First, the moisture and heat in the compost pile split the polymer chains apart, creating smaller polymers, and finally, lactic acid. Micro-organisms in compost and soil consume the smaller polymer fragments and lactic acid as nutrients. Since lactic acid is widely found in nature, a large number of organisms metabolize lactic acid. This degradation process is temperature and humidity dependent. In commercial composters this should take about 30-45 days. In home composting bins it might take longer.

The all-natural and unbleached sticker used to seal the bag is made from compostable and biodegradable material, which has been produced in compliance with major compost standards including international compost standard ASTM D6868 EN13432. The sticker is certified compostable by Din Certco, and FDA 21 CFR 17.

We often reuse boxes and shipping material. If we require new boxes, we source them from suppliers who provide 100% recycled boxes.

If you would like us to ship your bars in 100% recycled paper rather than the compostable bags, please send a note with your order and we would be happy to oblige! 

Shipping and handling

We ship globally, normally within 3 business days, via Canada Post through their Ground/Surface delivery services, unless otherwise requested. All Canadian orders receive automatic package tracking. International orders requiring tracking will incur additional fees.

We are not responsible for missing packages where address information has been incorrectly entered through the ordering process, or for packages damaged in transport.

Shipping timelines are as follows:

  • Canada: 1 - 3 days within Alberta and, up to 7 days nationally
  • USA: 6 - 10 days
  • International: 4 - 6 weeks

Returns

We want you to be happy with and excited about your purchase. If you’d like to return or exchange an online order, please email: hello@unwrappedlife.com to obtain a return authorization, and receive further instructions.

If we shipped the wrong item to you by mistake, please contact us at: hello@unwrappedlife.com and we will ship the correct item at no additional cost.

Additions or cancellations

To avoid confusion and ensure a speedy delivery, please check your order carefully before you check out. That being said, we know that mistakes happen. If you have forgotten to add something to your order or you wish to change it, please email us within 24 hours with your name, order number and additional items being requested and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

In some cases, you may need to place a new order. Additional costs for merchandise and shipping will be added to your original bill.

We do not normally accept order cancellations or changes once an order has been processed which is why we request you contact us immediately. Cancelled orders (orders that have been placed, but not shipped) will incur a 15% restocking fee, which will be subtracted from your refund.

Order tracking

When your order is shipped from our warehouse, we will send you an email to confirm your shipment - this email will include a tracking number and link to enable you to track your package.

Out of stock items

We rarely run out of stock but, if we do, we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. If your item is out of stock we will contact you to discuss how you would like the order handled.

Incorrect, damaged or lost goods

If you received incorrect or damaged products, save all contents and packing material and contact us at: hello@unwrappedlife.com within 3 business days. 

Failure to contact us promptly voids any responsibility we may have had.

Privacy

We never share your personal information with anyone.

Holidays and closings

We are closed on all Alberta and Canadian statutory holidays. Please feel free to leave us a message or email on these days and we will get in touch within the next 3 regular business days.

No animal testing

All of our ingredients and products are vegan and free of any animal testing.

Disclaimer

Although allergic reactions to our products are uncommon, we recommend testing them first by using them on a small patch of skin. If redness or irritation develops within 24 hours, discontinue use.
